Trip Lee Debuts at #1 With “The Good Life”
I said, in last’s week review, that Trip Lee‘s new album “The Good Life” would debut in the Top 10. (Don’t believe me? Look here) However, I didn’t think that it would debut at #1 (and #17 on the Top 200 ).Especially, not with Marvin Sapp‘s “I Win” still being, relatively, new on the market. As a , predominately, urban gospel DJ, I shoul be ashamed of myself for not thinking Trip would chart this high.
This isn’t the first time Trip has debuted at #1, his last album “Between Two Worlds” did the same thing back in 2010. So a big Shoutout is in order to Reach Records (home of Lacrae, who’s “Overdose” has been on the charts for a LONG time, and Andy Mineo, who’s “Formerly Known” mixtape is personal favor of mine.), this is a huge accomplishment in Urban Gospel.
Also debuting, this week is Forever Jones at #17, with their latest album “Musical Revival”. I’m shocked that this didn’t chart higher, given the sucess of the song “He Wants It All”, off their debut album, “Get Ready”.
With Trip’s debut at the top, Marvin Sapp has been bumped down to #2, after being #1 last week. Breaking back, into the Top 10, is Isaac Carree with his debut “Uncommon Me”. Le’Andria Johnson is missing, from the Top 10, this week. Perhaps it’s due to her pregnancy annoucement, who’s to say…….
